Join Captain
Tony on his custom-designed,
22ft glass bottom boat, ‘Coral Reefer’. No other glass bottom boat in Bermuda
has as much range over the reef. With only 6 inches of boat under the water (2
feet less than the bigger competitors) Tony can cut out the engine and drift
silently over reefs that are sometimes less than a foot below the surface! Your
toes will curl! You'll sneak up on vibrant parrotfish and other elusive fish the
big boats rarely see. Its like snorkeling without getting wet, or walking on
water! At the wreck of the HMS 'Vixen' you'll have a chance to climb aboard the
wreckage* and get splashed in the face as you reach over the side to feed
schools of voracious fish by hand! Peer into the semi-submerged bow of the wreck
to spot giant rockfish (80lbs plus!) that lurk within its shadows and frequently
emerge to cash in on the feeding frenzy - as predators - an arms length away!
You won't see this on any other glass bottom boat tour unless you get very
lucky! Tony's got some tricks up his sleeve the others can't copy due to their
size constraints! On the nearby sea grass flats, you'll also spend some time
spotting green turtles as they surface to breath and learn fascinating facts
about their reproduction and comeback from near extinction. Since
'Coral Reefer'
is the only Bermuda glass bottom boat small enough to pass through Somerset
drawbridge, Tony is often able to offer an alternative return route with
expanded sightseeing territory*.
Tony's island and reef commentary is legendary! An astonishing amount of information is packed into 2 1/2 hours and delivered in a refreshingly adlib style by none other than the son-in-law (or sometimes even the daughter) of Dr. David Wingate ( father of conservation in Bermuda) so you can actually believe what you hear! Questions are always welcome, but be warned: Tony doesn't have any short answers! After building the reputations of other tour boat companies for 22 years, Tony is finally running his own show. His philosophy is simply to exceed your expectations!
