Captain Tony Michel (Tony) Crockwell-Laurent
Half French, half Bermudian, a graduate of Warwick Academy in Bermuda and attendee of Baruch University in New York, Tony almost ended up being an accountant! But In 1985, at the age of 22 he discovered his calling in life as a tour guide and has worked full-time in the tour boat industry ever since. It took him only one season to conclude that the Captain had the best job on the boat and obtained his Marine and Ports Engine Driver’s and Pilot’s licenses in 1986.
His career as a tour boat Captain began in one of the most demanding arenas: Night Glass Bottom cruises (fraught with risk and notoriously difficult to achieve customer satisfaction). The huge success of his work for Looking Glass Cruises helped fund the construction of the world's first tour submarine at a cost of over a million dollars! Since then his piloting and cruise coordinating experience has spanned virtually the full spectrum of water-based activities offered in Bermuda and firmly established him as one of the most knowledgeable tour guides in the industry. He has, at one time or another, skippered almost every tour boat on the island for just about every tour boat operator. His dedication to the industry has been inspired by a devout love of Bermuda and an all-consuming desire to provide passengers, who could just have easily chosen to embark upon a different tour, with the most worthwhile experience they could possibly get during their stay.
He is best known for his vast and well-researched knowledge of all things pertaining to Bermuda and for his wonderfully adlib delivery style, cramming an astounding amount of information into a comprehensive and entertaining package that sincerely respects the intelligence of his listeners. His constant insistence for higher standards, attuned handle on the changing industry and vision for increasing the profitability of past employers have made him best-suited for self-employment. Somehow, after all these years (22 and counting), his enthusiasm for his career has remained un-jaded!

Captain 'P.B.' Rosalind (PB) Crockwell-Laurent
Who could ask for a more ecologically inspiring childhood than the daughter of Dr. David Wingate, Bermuda’s founding Conservation Officer, savior of the Bermuda Petral and re-creator of Nonsuch island as a living museum of pre-colonial Bermuda? Growing up, I was surrounded by the best Bermuda has to offer and developed a keen understanding and adoration of Bermuda’s indigenous species, a lot of which has rubbed off on Tony.
Tony and I met aboard the glass bottom boat 'Bottom Peeper' during my gap year in 1995 when I accepted a 2 week job as 'glass bottom boat crew' to cover for a friend. Our relationship endured three years of long-distance separation during my attendance at the University of Wales, Swansea. In 1998 I completed a degree thesis on the Bermuda skink and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology. Upon my return to Bermuda I found it difficult to obtain employment in my field of training but found another enjoyable and rewarding outlet for my knowledge enlightening our visitors with fascinating facts about Bermuda’s marine environment. With constant constructive criticism from Tony my public speaking and boat handling skills have been honed to a comparable standard. Having worked part-time on boats with Tony since 1995, I became a fully qualified Captain in 2000. A short term of employment as an aquarist at the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo (B.A.M.Z) between 2001 and 2003 ended with the birth of our first child and subsequent development of Aquatic Bermuda. 2 years later we had the surprise of our lives when we found I was pregnant with twins! Needless to say, our lives have never been the same since.
In addition to operating our rentals and the odd glass bottom tour, I'm the talent behind this website and all of our marketing materials and if you call us it'll be me you speak to on the phone. Have a question about Aquatic Bermuda (or Bermuda in general)? I'm here to help...from 8:00am till 8:00pm, 7 days a week (but sometimes you might not be able to hear me over the kids)

WHAT WE DO FOR FUN:
(still working on this bit - photos to come...eventually) |
In our previous lives, BC
(Before Children), we seemed to have tons of spare time to go spearfishing,
lobstering, boating and camping. We've circumnavigated the island countless
times, set the island record for the biggest rockfish speared locally
(86lbs) and tricked hundreds of dollars worth of lobsters out of the reefs.
We know every nook and cranny in Bermuda's waters. Now that we're parents
and self-employed, even the simple pleasure of a cup of coffee seems like an
unachievable luxury. We're overworked and underpaid, but loving it anyway!
Can't wait till the kids are old enough to make useful crew!

Chris Christopher Sequeros
The youngest of Tony's 5 brothers Chris has been making a living in Spain as a Reggae DJ for the last 4 or 5 years. From Salamanca to Ibiza, the party's where Chris is. When he's not seducing Spanish girls with his Bermudian-accented Spanish, he comes home to give us a hand with our boat rentals. He can be remarkably responsible when he has to.

'Captain Rowdy' (Boat Rat)
Captain Rowdy evolved from a T-shirt Tony bought in France several decades ago. Originally, he had horns, a forked tail and a trident in his fist but his wicked grin was so endearing, the t-shirt was loved for many years after it's useful life-span. About 8 years ago I lifted him from the shirt before it disintegrated completely and modified him into a 'Boat Rat' as the mascot for our future business (Aquatic Bermuda did not yet exist). He bares a distinct resemblance to Tony (in his irresponsible and fun-loving youth) except that Tony usually kept his pants on while partying.
I suppose one day I might get around to bringing him to life by way of computer animation but for those of you can't stand those distracting little things on your computer screen, rest assured that won't be for a while.
Captain Rowdy's motto (a hangover from his days as a t-shirt) is: "I want YOU!" , or rather: "Je vous veux!". Though It should probably be more like "We NEED you!" because we really do! But his social skills aren't too refined. You can probably tell by his dress sense.
You might have noticed that Captain Rowdy has accessorized his look with a glass of swizzle. This is the only clue* we'll give you about where you can find the best Swizzle in Bermuda. If you book a charter, it's worth mentioning that you'd like to sample it and get the recipe! You pay cost price for the ingredients and captain Rowdy will do the rest! The leftovers (if there are any, Hah!) go home with you.
* OK, I added some more clues in the photo gallery of 'things to do'
